Dog Refuses to Leave Human Papa's Grave
Aug 16 2012
Lao Pan died earlier this month at the age of 68 in the eastern Chinese village of Panjiatun. He had no wife or children and few relatives to speak of. His death would have gone largely unnoticed to those outside his village except for one thing (a furry thing) - his close companionship with a dog.
This fur brother, whose name we do not know, guards Pan's grave day and night even after initially going more than seven days without food. One villager lured him away from the grave and fed him a steamed bun in an attempt to unofficially adopt him, but our loyal furry friend raced back to Pan's grave and refused to leave. Since then, other villagers have brought him food and water. They even plan to build a kennel near the grave for him to sleep in!
Two paws up to BBC News for this amazing story. Dogs truly are man's best friend.
